February 4, 2022 by Mahesh Leave a Comment

What if you need to open a savings account all of a sudden, but your Aadhar card is not linked with your mobile number?

No worries, go with Kotak 811 account.

You can open Kotak 811 Lite account even without an Aadhar card. You can get it opened online in 20-25 minutes without visiting the branch.

Apart from that, you can open Kotak 811 savings account for 3 prime reasons as mentioned below –

  • Don’t want the hassle of visiting the bank for account opening
  • Don’t want to wait for a physical debit card to get delivered as you get a virtual card
  • Want a zero balance savings account

Kotak has provided 4 Kotak 811 savings account variants (one Kotak 811 lite I have already mentioned above) that would help open accounts promptly as per your requirements.

In this Kotak 811 Account Review article, we have tried to help you understand each and every aspect of the Kotak 811 savings account so that you can be aware of getting a zero balance digital savings account with a bare minimum application process.

Kotak 811 Account Review (All 4 Variants)

#1. Kotak 811 Lite

If you urgently need to open a bank account but your Aadhar is not linked, go with Kotak 811 Lite. Because you can open Kotak 811 Lite account without Aadhar based KYC verification as it requires only a PAN card to open the account.

This is a zero balance account that comes with a capping on the maximum balance that is Rs. 10,000 per month and Rs. 1,00,000 per year.

You can use the Kotak811 Lite account only for 1 year after that you have to complete the KYC. If you don’t complete the KYC within 1 year, the bank has to close your Kotak 811 account and you won’t able to open it again.

Kotak 811 Lite account has limited features as you don’t earn any interest on the deposited amount

Neither you get a cheque book nor you can transfer funds from your account to other accounts using NEFT or RTGS.

You’ll get a virtual debit card through the Kotak banking app but there’s no provision for a physical debit card with Kotak 811 Lite account.

#2. Kotak 811 Limited KYC

You can open Kotak 811 Limited KYC account with just a PAN & Aadhaar card. You can earn 3.5% interest on the deposited money.

You can keep a maximum of Rs. 1 lakh in the account at any point in time and the whole cumulative amount (including the interest earned) can’t exceed Rs. 2 lakh in a year.   Your transaction amount is also restricted to Rs. 1 lakh per transaction.

You can transfer funds using NEFT or IMPS facility but RTGS is not allowed with Kotak 811 Limited KYC account.

Similar to Kotak 811 Lite account, you get 1 year to complete the full KYC to keep this account operational, otherwise Kotak bank will freeze your account.

#3. Kotak 811 Full KYC

Kotak 811 Full KYC is regular savings account with zero account balance and there’s no limit on the transaction amount, unlike the previous two account types.

You have to complete your KYC along with sharing your personal information to the bank such as your PAN details, country of birth, country of residence, nationality, occupation, annual income, and political exposure.

However, you get only 1 transaction fee for cash deposit and withdrawal each which is also limited up to Rs. 10,000 per month after that you have to pay Rs. 4.5/- per Rs. 1000/- (Minimum Rs. 50) for cash deposit or withdrawal.

That means if your 1st cash transaction exceeds Rs. 10,000 amount, you have to pay the charges as mentioned above.

But you can get 4 free cash transactions per month up to Rs. 1 lakh if you are a regular customer and you can try to negotiate with customer care for exceeding your free cash transaction limit from 1 to 4 transactions.

#4. Kotak 811 Edge

If you want a full-featured savings account with facilities like a chequebook, RTGS transfer, and ATM facilities, then go with Kotak 811 Edge savings account.

You have to maintain Rs. 10,000 per month as the average minimum balance with Kotak 811 Edge account otherwise the bank will charge you 5% of the minimum balance shortfall as the penalty.

Kotak 811 Savings Account Interest Rates

You earn 3.5% interest on the balance amount of up to Rs. 1 lakh and balance above Rs. 1 lakh you earn 4% interest.

For example, if you have Rs.125,000 as your bank balance, then 3.5% interest will be applied on Rs. 1 lakh amount and 4% interest on the rest amount that is Rs. 25,000.
